Film photography class shows you the skill of capturing life on film. There are no second chances, it's on film not digital.
Film will react to light and also film can be pushed process to make film change in the processing in the darkroom. The course shows how it is possible to change ASA ratings to create stunning film images. You will also learn the age old skills of film Processing.
This four-day workshop will show you how to capture amazing shots on real film - no digital shortcuts here! By the end, you'll know how to take great photos and even develop them yourself.
Don't worry if you've only used digital cameras before. We'll help you get the hang of film photography, and you might find you love the way it makes you think more about each shot you take.
Here's what you'll be doing over the four days:
Day One: Getting to Know Film
  • Learn what film is and how it works with light
  • Pick the right cameras and lenses for different situations
  • Figure out how to load film without messing it up
  • Get the hang of light readings so your photos turn out great
  • Practice waiting for the perfect moment to take a picture
  • Learn how to safely take film out of your camera
Day Two: Stepping Up Your Game
  • Try out different ways to use your camera
  • See the difference between color and black-and-white film
  • Play with fast and slow shutter speeds for cool effects
  • Learn how to make parts of your photo sharp or blurry
  • Use shapes and lines to make your photos look awesome
  • Understand what ASA means and why it matters
Day Three: Putting It All Together
  • Work on fun photo projects using everything you've learned
  • Talk about your photos with the group
  • Think about how to keep improving your film photography skills
Day Four: Developing Your Own Photos
  • Learn how to develop your own film
  • Make contact sheets to see all your photos at once
  • Create your very own prints in the darkroom
  • Learn how to dry and take care of your prints
We'll also show you some essential tricks, like how to change ASA ratings and "push" film to get unique looks.
By the time you're done, you'll know how to do everything from taking a great shot to holding a photo you developed yourself. Who knows? You might fall in love with film photography and find a new favourite hobby!
